Thomas University has been named to the 2019-2020 Military Spouse Friendly Schools list. Since 2009 Military Friendly has been a resource for military spouses and has set a standard for higher education institutions to provide the best post-secondary education experiences for spouses of service members.
 
“The Military Spouse Friendly Schools designation helps military spouses select schools that will support them in their education journey by meeting their unique needs as a part of a military family,” said Brian Hucik, National Program Manager, Military Friendly. “Schools that are selected for the list are at the forefront of supporting the goals of military spouses.”
 
The Military Spouse Friendly Schools list is created using data from federal agencies and proprietary survey information from participating organizations to create a comprehensive guide for military spouses looking to further their education. This year only 196 schools made the list. TU is one of only nine Georgia schools on the list.
 
“We’re delighted to receive this designation,” said Susan Backofen, TU’s Vice President for Enrollment Management. “TU works hard to provide opportunities for current military service members and their spouses. It’s an honor to be recognized. We understand that when our military service members sign up to serve their country, their spouses and other family members are also part of that commitment. It’s only right that we support them as well.”
 
Thomas University allows military and veteran students the opportunity to receive credit from their military occupational series training, and offers a tuition discount to all active duty, National Guard, Reserve, DOD civilians and their spouses. TU also has a Veterans Services and Career Transition Center on its Forbes Campus, a chapter of the Student Veterans of America, and a chapter of SALUTE, the honor society for veterans and current military students.
 
Being named to the Military Spouse Friendly Schools list is just the latest in TU’s honors for its commitment to the military and veterans. TU is regularly named to the Military Friendly Schools List and was named to the Top 10 Military Friendly List for the past two years.
