Dougherty County Board of Commissioners Launches First News Publication

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Thursday, April 4th, 2019

Dougherty County Board of Commissioners will launch a brand new quarterly publication, DOCOToday, for the citizens of Dougherty County and the Southwest Georgia community.

Designed to educate citizens on projects taking place in county government, the publication will also serve as a news source to keep residents informed on community events that Dougherty County is involved in. Several pages are dedicated to events that either the County Commissioners are in-volved in, or various Dougherty County departments and employees.

The section, “Around DOCO,” features news items from county departments and “DOCO Happen-ings” is a pictorial view of various events impacting Dougherty County. The publication also features a letter from the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Christopher Cohilas, and the County Ad-ministrator, Michael McCoy, as well as a Commissioner Spotlight feature where two commissioners will be highlighted each issue.

“One of the goals with this news publication is to keep our citizens informed on some of the ways their taxpayer dollars are being spent,” said Michael McCoy, County Administrator. “We also want to
use this publication to highlight various events in our county and some of the great things our county employees are doing.”

This issue focuses on the groundbreaking of the Radium Springs Memorial on January 22, as well as other news items about Radium Springs and the revitalization and restoration efforts that are tak-ing place. The second quarter edition will publish on June 1st and again, at the end of each quarter every calendar year.
