Friday, April 26th, 2019

Robin Rau, CEO of the Hospital Authority of Miller County, will give the keynote address during this year’s Andrew College Commencement ceremony held on Saturday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the Jinks Gymnasium.

Born in Rhode Island, Rau has been a healthcare executive since 1979, where as a young woman she served as the administrator of the Roger Williams Cancer Center. Working in both not for profit health care organizations as well as publicly traded companies, Rau chose to relocate to Georgia 22 years ago and assume a role with the Archbold Organization.

In 2008 she was asked by the Hospital Authority of Miller County to accept the position as CEO. Within a year of serving as CEO, she successfully transformed the fiscally strapped organization into a sustainable model for healthcare which now boasts two intensively skilled nursing facilities, two rural health clinics, an accountable care organization, the management of a hospital program in Homerville, and a joint venture with DaVita Dialysis in additional to Miller County Hospital. The Hospital Authority of Miller County now employs 600 staff members in Colquitt, Georgia.

Rau is a frequent speaker and advocate for Rural Health Care, including the University of Georgia’s Economic Summits and UGA School of Law Regional Health Symposiums among many others.

Rau has planted deep roots in Georgia, and has served in an advisory capacity to the Georgia Hospital Association, Georgia Center for Rural Health, Cancer Coalition and the State Office of Rural Health among others.

Andrew College will hold a Baccalaureate ceremony in conjunction with Commencement. It will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, in the United Methodist Church in Cuthbert. Speaker will be Elder Larry D. Murphy, Cuthbert native and respected business owner and community activist.
