Albany State University Installs New Leadership for University Relations, Marketing and Communications

Albany State University has appointed new leadership for University Relations and University Marketing and Communications.
University Relations and Chief of Staff
Wendy Wilson serves as vice president of university relations and chief of staff to President Marion Fedrick. Wilson’s primary responsibilities include facilitating strategic management processes and interacting with members at all levels of the internal and external university community for the purpose of defining, advancing and assessing the work of the Office of the President in support of effective institutional alignment and synergy.
Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Prior to being named to the position on Oct. 1, Wilson served as executive director of the ASU Cordele Center. She has also previously served at Albany State as special assistant to the president for strategic communications and university relations, interim director of university communications and as director of alumni affairs. Her higher education experience spans over 15 years and includes leadership roles in student affairs, marketing and communications, alumni affairs and university administration.
Wilson received a doctorate in curriculum and leadership from Columbus State University, a master’s in human resources administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s in organizational management from Bluefield College.
Senior Director of University Marketing and Communications
Danyelle Gary has been appointed the senior director of university marketing and communications, effective Feb. 1. In this role, Gary oversees internal and external messaging, public relations, advertising and branding efforts for the institution by leading the Office of University Marketing and Communications. In addition, Gary assists with the development of quality content that elevates the public image of the institution and its leadership.
She brings experience in communication strategy, media relations, reporting, news and speech writing, crisis communication and new media. Since joining ASU in 2013, Gary has served as interim director of media relations, interim director of university communications and a public relations specialist. Gary earned a master’s in communication arts from Valdosta State University and a bachelor’s in print journalism from Hampton University.
