March is right around the corner and flowers are already blooming in the Albany area. Spring Break will be here soon, and the Albany Museum of Art’s Staycation Art Camp will be the perfect way to keep your young artist busy and engaged while school is out.

The AMA has two Staycation Art Camps scheduled—March 25-29, 2019 and April 2-4, 2019. Both camps are 9 am –  4 pm daily. The art camps are for children in K4 - 5th grade. Smaller groups will be made for different age groups and all activities will be age appropriate.

“We have indoor and outdoor activities that are designed to inspire our campers’ natural creativity,” Albany Museum of Art Director of Education and Public Programming Chloe Hinton said. “You want your child to stay busy, but you want it done in a way that also enriches. Our campers learn, but they have a terrific time doing it!”

Projects that have been conducted at previous Staycation Art Camps include drawing and painting, sculpture and tie-dying t-shirts.

Tiesha Reed, a teacher with the Dougherty County School System, will lead the March 25-29 session. Annie Vanoteghem, AMA education specialist, will be in charge of the April 2-4 camp.

Hinton said AMA officials make sure the camps are family friendly, both in scheduling and pricing. Both camps have full-day and half-day (morning or afternoon) options, as well as free early drop-off (8 am) and late pick-up (5 pm) times that are especially needed by working parents. AMA members also get a special discount.

“We do everything we can to make Spring Break as stress free as possible for busy parents,” she said.

Snacks are provided, but parents should pack lunches for full-day campers, she said.
