State Representative CaMia Hopson (D-Albany) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 14, 2019, marking her first day of the 2019-2020 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 155th legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.

In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Hopson to the Defense & Veterans Affairs, Special Rules and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.

“I am extremely excited to serve on these committees, especially the Defense & Veterans Affairs Committee. The Marine Corps Logistics Base is a vital part of our Albany community,” said Rep. Hopson.

“In addition to ensuring its continued success, we must ensure we're doing everything within our power to service our military veterans. I've spoken to a number of local veterans, and their biggest complaint is inadequate healthcare. I look forward to helping find solutions to ensure that our veterans receive proper healthcare, services and benefits they need and deserve.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
