Ashburn Author Unveils New Superhero Book

Turner Co.’s got talent! Local resident Kay Jackson (19) has her June released novel and is slated for a book signing in September 2018. Jackson, who goes by the pen name Rebelle Snow, has been dreaming of being a writer since she was 8 years old. On September 12th, her dreams are coming true.
“This is my dream. This is all I’ve ever wanted,” said Jackson about her up coming book signing.
The Ashburn Turner County Chamber of Commerce is hosting Jackson’s book signing event Wednesday, September 12 at Noon at Red Wall Gallery & Events in historic downtown Ashburn.
“We believe that authors are small business owners at the end of the day,” said Ashley Miller, Executive Director of the Ashburn Turner Co. Chamber of Commerce, “And we are dedicated to seeing small business thrive. Miss Jackson is just one of several talented young people we have here.”
The novel, “DLA Origins” is set in the aftermath of a 1985 congressional ban on anyone with different abilities. It features aliens, super heroes and dystopian governments.
“I grew up devouring books, especially Stephen King,” said Jackson of her inspiration for writing the books.”
She said her love of reading slowly emerged into a need to write.
“My family encouraged my love of reading, all of my siblings love to read and write. Once you read enough, I think most people are inspired to take up the pen and start creating their own stories,” said Jackson.
Turner County has long attempted to craft itself as a place for artists. The Fire Ant Festival, the county’s flagship festival, has held an professional art competition for 23 years, with winners on display in the gallery at the Chamber.
Event to be held at 113 E College Ave Ashburn, Georgia 31714 on September 12, 2018 at 12 Noon. Books may be purchased at the signing and a selected reading held at 12:30 p.m. General public is welcomed to attend.
