State School Superintendent: Help Us Provide Backpacks & Supplies for Georgia Students

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, July 6th, 2018

Dear supporters of Georgia public education,

I am writing today to ask for your assistance in supporting Georgia’s students.

For the last three years, the Georgia Department of Education has hosted a Back-to-School packs drive. We have been met with an enormous response each year from schools in need of backpacks and supplies for their students, and would like to invite you to participate in this year’s drive.

To donate online to support this effort, click here and enter the word BACKPACKS in the field that reads “please designate this donation to the following project”

The funds will be used to purchase backpacks and school supplies (crayons, pencils, pencil sharpeners, pencil boxes, erasers, highlighters, folders, notebooks, glue sticks, and paper) for elementary students in need. Please make any donations by July 26, 2018.

I cannot overstate the response we receive from our schools each year when we bring the backpacks through their doors. The need is great and any contribution you are able to make, large or small, will be deeply appreciated.

Thank you so much for your willingness to support students. If you have any questions, please direct them to Meghan Frick at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Richard Woods, State School Superintendent
