State Representative Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) was recently appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as a member of the Joint Study Committee on the Establishment of a State Accreditation Process. This joint study committee is made up of members of both the Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia State Senate.

“I’m thankful to Speaker Ralston for selecting me to serve on this joint study committee, which I believe will ultimately work to better our state’s education system for Georgia’s students,” said Rep. Glanton. “Currently, there is no state-level entity in Georgia that accredits primary and secondary public schools and local school systems, and as such, most of these schools and school systems pursue accreditation through private organizations. I’m confident that this joint study committee will play a crucial role in leveling the playing field and determining whether an accreditation process through our state’s government should be created.”

Established by House Resolution 898, the Joint Study Committee on the Establishment of a State Accreditation Process will determine whether a state accreditation process should be established for the purpose of accrediting Georgia public schools and school systems.
