Labor Commissioner Butler to Host Employer Summit in Albany on August 1st
Tuesday, July 31st, 2018
State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announced that a business summit called Employers in The Know will be held in Albany on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The Aug. 1 event is another in a series of 12 being held throughout the state.
“These events have been a great opportunity for the department to hear directly from our employers and to understand how we can better serve them,” said Butler. “At the same time, we are able to provide up-to-date information about programs and regulations that may impact their business.”
Commissioner Butler will discuss current labor department initiatives and programs designed to encourage job growth and economic development throughout the state. The GDOL provides labor market data necessary for economic developers and businesses to make sound decisions about starting or expanding businesses. The GDOL helps match employers with qualified job seekers, as well as helping job seekers be successful in securing jobs and developing their careers.
Other speakers include:
Expert labor law attorneys giving a labor law update
U.S. Department of Labor representatives speaking on the current regulatory environment
Georgia Department of Labor analysts speaking on unemployment insurance
Other labor experts discussing topics such as harassment, FMLA, workers’ compensation and more
The summits, which help employers learn how to better understand and conquer compliance challenges in the workplace, are sponsored by the GDOL and local employer committees.
The Albany summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Albany Technical College, Kirkland Conference Center, 1704 South Slappey Blvd in Albany.
If pre-registered, the cost to attend is $40 per person, which includes lunch. After July 18, the cost is $50.
