Marquee Broadcasting Georgia (Marquee) announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire TV station WSST from Sunbelt-South Telecommunications. WSST is an independent station licensed to Cordele, Ga. Although part of the Albany, Ga. television market, WSST serves south central Georgia and is the only full power tv station located centrally from Macon, Columbus, and Albany, Ga.

Marquee President Patricia Lane stated, “Localism matters to our stations. We were attracted to WSST because the station has a long history of being a beacon of hyper-local content in south central Georgia. We are excited to build upon that legacy.”

Marquee and its affiliates own full power stations in the Atlanta, Denver, Salisbury, Md., and Bowling Green, Ky. markets, as well as LPTV stations in the Philadelphia, Toledo, Salisbury, Md., and Parkersburg markets.

The transaction is subject to the approval of the FCC and is expected to close by the Fall.
