Westover Raises Thousands for Hurricane Harvey Relief

Before Hurricane Irma came ashore, Westover Comprehensive High School was already collecting funds for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas.  Principal William Chunn was approached by Westover teacher, Mrs. Tepedric Hill , who wanted Westover to show support for the Texas Hurricane victims.  Westover conducted a fund raiser and asked every able faculty and staff member to donate $5.00 and every able Westover student to donate $1.00. The faculty and staff donated $1,615.00 and the students donated $713.00 for a total of $2,328.00 .

Every student that made a donation had a chance to win a special  prize. Two Westover students, Joshua Breasette and Johnuell Hicks,  both won brand new Westover Throws.  Mr. Ronald Dees, first period class also won a pizza party for collecting the most funds, per first period. Every student in Mr. Dees first period class donated  $1.00 for a total of $32.00.

Principal Chunn stated he is very grateful to Mrs. Tepedric Hill for getting Westover involved in such a worthwhile cause. Principal Chunn also stated he was very proud of Westover’s faculty, staff and students for their great participation.

The check will be sent to the American Red Cross in the name of Westover Comprehensive School for Hurricane Harvey victims.
