Café Campesino invites the public for a celebration of its recent addition of Sweet Georgia Baking Co.’s lunch menu and fresh baked goods to its coffee house fare.  The event will take place at 134 West Lamar St. on Friday, Sept. 8, starting with a ribbon cutting at 4pm, followed by a reception.
 
Café Campesino’s decision to bring Sweet Georgia’s menu into the fair trade organic coffee roaster’s downtown Americus coffee house was, according to the companies’ owners, an ideal opportunity to bring the two, complementary food and beverage offerings under one roof.
 
“Lee’s food is exceptional and really complements our specialty beverage offering,” Café Campesino founder Bill Harris said of his brother Lee Harris, who started Sweet Georgia Baking.  “Plus, our store offers double the seating of his old location and extended hours of operation.”
 
Lee agreed. “We’ve come full circle. We’re back to where it all started,” he said noting that the coffee house was one of Sweet Georgia’s original customers and that he had served as the coffee company’s first roastmaster.
 
Now, in addition to specialty coffee drinks, organic fruit smoothies and flavorful teas, diners will enjoy an updated lunch menu that showcases Sweet Georgia’s locally-adored sandwiches and salads, fresh breads, and decadent baked goods.  The current breakfast menu will expand in the coming weeks.
 
Café Campesino coffee house remains Southwest Georgia’s best source for small-batch-roasted, 100 percent fair trade, organic coffees-  sold by the cup and by the bag.
