RSES SNS Manager Takes District-Level Award

Theresa Tomblin, Radium Springs Elementary School Nutrition Services manager, was named Manager of the Year by the Dougherty County Child Nutrition Services at their annual banquet in June. 

Mrs. Tomblin has been an employee of the Dougherty school nutrition program for forty years.   Under Mrs. Tomblin’s leadership, Radium Elementary was the first school in Dougherty County to attend the Georgia Organics Conference, an invitation only event.

Georgia Organics connects locally grown organic food to Georgia citizens and schools by working with school nutrition staff and educators to engage students in farm to school activities.

At Radium, Mrs. Tomblin oversees the school’s vegetable garden which includes student participation, conducts student taste-tests, and supports incorporating gardening and nutrition lessons into the school’s curriculum.  Mrs. Tomblin is a member of the Georgia School Nutrition Association, National School Nutrition Association, and Radium’s Local School Governance Team.
