Tuesday, August 1st, 2017
PharmaCentra, LLC hosted a “Back to School Bash” for the children of its employees on the grounds of company headquarters. The Americus-Sumter County Schools term begins next week, and more than 130 PharmaCentra employees and children took advantage of the event.
“The PharmaCentra Human Resource team, along with the company’s newly formed Fun Committee, spearheaded the event and activities to help their employees financially by providing the children with free school supplies,” said Kim Christmas, PharmaCentra Vice President of Human Resources and Community Relations. The Fun Committee stuffed 130 book bags full of the required school supplies for the children of PharmaCentra’s employees to prepare them for the start of the school year.
“PharmaCentra is a great place to work; not only do they care about their employees, but also our families,” said Emmanuel Robinson, PharmaCentra Customer Service Representative. “I really appreciate what PharmaCentra did, supplying book bags filled with school supplies for our kids,” Robinson concluded. Robinson’s daughter, Bentlee, will be attending kindergarten at Sumter Primary School in Americus.
The appreciation was echoed by Jahaira Sabater, Healthcare Specialist at PharmaCentra. “PharmaCentra really cares and helps their employees and community! It meant a lot to me because being a single parent is tough, so having a workplace and community that cares and helps is wonderful,” said Sabater. “The event was fun for all ages.” Sabater’s daughters, Zoraida (16) and Leilani (14), will be attending Schley High School and Schley Middle School respectively this upcoming school year.
Some employees said the event gave them a financial break and a chance for the children to get back into the swing of things by going back into the classroom with positive attitudes. The family-friendly activities included entertainment, music, food, face painting, a jumping castle, selfie photo booth and bingo. The Americus Snoball & Shaved Ice Company served snoballs to the employees and their children during the event.
The Americus Fire Department Fire Fighters were on hand to educate the children on fire safety as well as grill hot dogs and hamburgers for the employees and their children. In addition, the Americus Fire Department’s Fire Safety House and Fire Engine were on display for children to tour.
