Community Capital Bancshares Inc., and its wholly-owned subsidiary AB&T, is pleased to announce that on June 28, 2017, the company’s Board of Directors elected John P. “Jay” Ventulett as Chairman of the Board for the coming year.

Ventulett, who has served as the board’s Vice Chairman for the past five years, has been a long-time supporter of AB&T (formerly Albany Bank & Trust). He has served on the bank’s Board of Directors since its formation in 1997 and has a proven track record of exceptional leadership.

A native and fourth generation Albanian, Ventulett graduated from Albany High School before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University. After returning to Albany, Ventulett forged a successful career in the insurance industry as a general insurance broker, founding his own company Howard and Ventulett Insurers with Jack M. Howard in 1979.

Currently Ventulett serves as Vice President of the Albany location of Marsh & McLennan, one of the largest professional service firms in the country.

A great champion of Albany, Ventulett has been very active in the community, having served on the boards of several charitable and civic organizations, including being a founding member and past president of the Dougherty County Rotary Club.

Ventulett is also an appointed member of the Albany-Dougherty Historic Preservation Commission, which seeks to preserve and protect the history of the community where Ventulett’s family has lived since the 1864.

“We are very pleased that Jay, a long-time supporter of AB&T, has been elected by the Board to serve as chairman,” said AB&T President and CEO Luke Flatt. “Jay’s wealth of knowledge and experience, along with his true passion for this community, make him an ideal choice to lead the Board of Directors for the coming year. I have no doubt that under his leadership and guidance AB&T will continue to be the leader in community banking.”

Ventulett, who has been married to Nancy Bowman Haley for 23 years and has one daughter and two stepdaughters, is a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
