The Salvation Army in Albany is pleased to welcome new Corps Officers (church leaders), Lieutenants James and Rebecca Sullivan. The Lieutenants are replacing Majors Kelly and Angela English who have been reassigned to the Atlanta Peachcrest Salvation Army.
Salvation Army Officers are periodically transferred to different locations, typically every 3-4 years. Lieutenant Sullivan’s are enthusiastic and dynamic leaders and come to Albany from Atlanta where for the last 3 years they were responsible for the Atlanta Peachcrest Salvation Army Corps Boys & Girls Club.
Although, Atlanta, Georgia has been their home for the past 5 years. Lieutenant James is originally from Augusta, Georgia and Lieutenant Rebecca is originally from El Dorado, Arkansas. In June 2011, Lieutenant James & Rebecca Sullivan sold all their possessions in Augusta, Georgia and signed up for service in the Army of the Lord. They began seminary studies at Evangeline Booth College Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, graduated in 2014 and we were commissioned to The Salvation Army Atlanta Peachcrest Corps Boys & Girls Club. Lieutenant James enjoys fishing, and cooking while Lieutenant Rebecca enjoys swimming, and photography as a couple they both enjoy spending time with their (3) grown children and (3) grandchildren.
“It has been exciting to meet the people of Albany and discover the opportunities for ministry in the community,” said Lt. Rebecca Sullivan. “We are excited to be here and invite everyone to come by and see what is happening at The Salvation Army. We have many year-round volunteer opportunities, not just at Christmas, and would love for you to get involved.”
