Phoebe Men’s Health Fair Set for Father’s Day Weekend, June 17th

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Friday, June 9th, 2017

What better Father’s Day gift can you give than encouraging your father, brother or son to live a healthier lifestyle. On Saturday, June 17, Phoebe will host its annual Men’s Health Fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Phoebe HealthWorks, located at 311 West Third Ave in Albany.

“Men typically are not as good at taking care of themselves as women and don’t take the time to see a healthcare provider for routine check-ups. The men’s health fair is a great opportunity for them to get the important health screenings, such as blood pressure and cholesterol,” said Darrell Sabbs, community benefits coordinator for Phoebe. “Early detection and education is the best prevention.”

In addition to free health screenings, lunch, vendors, and entertaining physician presentations, every attendee will leave with a T-shirt to remind him that healthy fathers lead healthy families.  Our goal is to educate attendees on all the simple things you can do to ensure you have many quality years ahead.

This year’s special guest speaker is Trent Davidson, a former football player with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Davidson will share his story of ups and downs, victories and opportunities that have helped shape him into the man he is today.

Other presenters include Dr. Derek Heard, of Phoebe Primary Care of Albany, and Dr. Adam Jones, of Radiation Oncology Associates.  The Men’s Health Fair is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 229-312-7121.
