The Dougherty County Board of Education voted Monday to appoint Tameka Jackson as the district’s Director of Student Support Services.

Jackson is currently the Director of Guidance at Albany High School.

As Director of Student Support Services, Mrs. Jackson will report to the Deputy Superintendent and is responsible for the day-to-day management of behavioral health services and social work services (including crisis intervention and homeless services), while also coordinating school counseling and graduation coach services, in collaboration with school leadership.

The director provides direct support to all school administrators/instructional scheduling teams within the District in the development and enhancement of all aspects of academic course scheduling and master schedule construction.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to serve the students of Dougherty County in this new role," Jackson said. "The reality is that some of our students face some daunting obstacles that, without help, could hurt their chances for realizing their potential. I'm eager to work with our staff, administrators and teachers to help our students overcome those obstacles and succeed."

Mrs. Jackson received a Master of Education in School Counseling from Albany State University and has previously served as a Professional School Counselor and School Testing Coordinator in the Sumter County School System.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences to include master scheduling expertise, working within student information and data systems and collaborating with school based teams to support students in all facets of their school experiences.

"I feel that Mrs. Jackson will make an incredible impact as Director of Student Support," Rodney Bullard, who will become Deputy Superintendent July 1, said. "She has the skills and expertise to work with our staff and administrators to make a difference in the lives of our students.

Mrs. Jackson lives in Albany, Georgia with her husband, Gavin, and their two children, Khalil and Khalin.
