Westover High School Principal William Chunn was recently selected by the Georgia Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America as its School Administrator Award winner during the group’s annual state leadership conference in Athens.
The School Administrator Award is given to a local administrator for his or her service to FCCLA.
According to the organization, evaluation criteria included supporting and encouraging FCCLA-sponsored activities and projects, advisers and individual students. Consideration was also given to the nominee’s influence on membership and promotion of FCCLA and CTAE in the community.
“Westover High School noted your devoted time, talent and resources to ensure the continuation of opportunities and recognition to our members and nominated you for this award. Your application will be forwarded to National FCCLA for consideration of the National FCCLA School Administrator Award,” FCCLA leadership said in a statement.
“I was very surprised when I was notified that I had won the FCCLA State Administrator Award, as I did not know even that I had been nominated,” Chunn said. “I am very honored to receive this state award on behalf of the Dougherty County School System and Westover Comprehensive School. I am very grateful to Westover’s FCCLA advisor, Mrs. Lorraine Montague, Westover’s FCCLA parents and Westover’s FCCLA students for nominating me.
“The conference was super fantastic, as I had the opportunity to meet FCCLA state officials and interact with FCCLA advisers and students from across the state of Georgia. It is my hope that I can represent the Dougherty County School System and Westover Comprehensive High School well at the national level.”
