Jordan Waller Named DCSS’s Teacher of the Year

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Monday, April 17th, 2017

The shock was all over Jordan Waller's face when Dr. David Mosely, Superintendent for the Dougherty County School System, announced her name as the 2017-2018 DCSS Teacher of the Year during a banquet Thursday night.  Waller, who teaches second-grade at Martin Luther King Jr., Elementary School, was named a finalist by the committee that reviews teacher of the year candidates.

Known for her non-traditional classroom approach that includes singing and dancing, Waller will represent the district in state competition next year.  During her speech following her award, Waller praised her fellow teachers and encouraged them to continue on despite the challenges of the job.  In addition to the title, Waller was given a ring by Herff Jones Representative Spud Bowen.  You can see video spotlights done by WFXL-TV of our Teacher of the Year Finalists here: http://bit.ly/DCSS_TOTYFinalists
