Employers in South Georgia Can Still Register to Attend State Labor Department Employer Summit

Employers from the South Georgia region who would like to attend the Employers In The Know summit on Wednesday, May 3, in Albany can still do so. The summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the conference center at Albany Technical College located at 1704 Slappey Blvd.

About 70 employers have pre-registered. Although the early registration deadline has passed, employers who haven’t registered, but would like to attend, can register for the event. The registration fee is $50, which includes lunch.

The summits, which help employers learn how to better understand and conquer compliance challenges in the workplace, are co-sponsored by the Georgia Department of Labor and local employer committees. This one is sponsored by the Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee.

Commissioner Butler will discuss current GDOL initiatives and programs designed to encourage job growth and economic development throughout the state.

Other speakers include:  C. Jason Willcox, a partner with Moore Clarke DuVall & Rodgers, a law firm on employer counseling and compliance; Rachael Mast, a community outreach and resource planning specialist with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, speaking on Top Tips for Employers on the Fair Labor Standards Act; Bruce Medders, an analyst with the GDOL’s Policy and Procedures Section, on Unemployment Insurance; and Connie Smith, director of GeorgiaBEST, the GDOL’s initiative that teaches students the importance of workplace ethics.
