Disaster Recovery Center in Albany Mall Will Close, But FEMA Help Remains
Wednesday, March 8th, 2017
The state and FEMA Disaster Recovery Center now open in the Albany Mall for the January storms is set to close permanently.
The center, at 2601 Dawson Road, will close Friday, March 10, at the end of the business day – 7 p.m.
A DRC at the former Albany Police station remains open until further notice. That center is located at 1721 East Oglethorpe Blvd. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
As any Disaster Recovery Center closes, those affected by the January storms are reminded that FEMA is a phone call, a mouse click and the FEMA app away.
Stay in touch with FEMA through the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY may call 800-462-7585. If you use 711 or VRS you can still use the Helpline number.
With any computer, smartphone or tablet, log onto DisasterAssistance.gov. Download the FEMA mobile app from Google Play, the Apple App Store or fema.gov/mobile-app.
Register by calling the Helpline, online or via the FEMA app. The deadline is March 27.
The toll-free numbers are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Help is available in most languages, and information on the registration process is available in ASL at http://www.fema.gov/media-library/assets/videos/111546.
