Slappey Boulevard Detour Approved for Pedestrian Bridge Installation

The Georgia Department of Transportation has approved a one-day detour on Slappey Boulevard to allow Albany Technical College to install a pedestrian bridge.

The detour is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Friday.

Traffic heading north on Slappey Boulevard will be narrowed to one lane with a right lane closure before the intersection of West Oakridge Drive. Then all thru traffic will be detoured left (west) on West Oakridge Drive, right (north) on Westtown Road and right (west) on Industry Avenue to return to Slappey Boulevard.

Traffic heading south on Slappey Boulevard will be narrowed to one lane with a left lane closure before Industry Avenue. All traffic will be detoured right (west) on Industry Avenue, left (south) on Westtown Road, and then left (east) on West Oakridge Drive to return to Slappey Boulevard.

Drivers are asked to slow down in the work area and plan for traffic delays.
