Phoebe Senior Living to Host February Lunch & Learns

Today, more than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. In Georgia, approximately 130,000 are living with the disease and it is estimated to increase by 46 percent by 2025. To help educate the community and provide a better understanding of Alzheimer’s, Phoebe Senior Living at Morningside is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association – Georgia Chapter to host a series of Lunch & Learns during February.
 
The dates and topics for the sessions are:

· February 9 – The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease
This session will provide information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease, treatment, and much more.
 
· February 16 – Know the 10 Signs; Early Detection Matters
Early detection of Alzheimer’s disease gives you a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan for the future. This interactive workshop features video clips of people with Alzheimer’s disease.
 
· February 23 – Understanding & Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior
During this session, learn how to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
 
All Lunch & Learn sessions are free of charge and will be held from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at Phoebe Senior Living, located at 1721 Beattie Road in Albany.
