Pentagon Officer to Speak at Albany State University Today

Albany State University students enrolled in the social work advanced class will gain insight into military practices at a lecture featuring Lt. Col. Sammie L. Davis, Jr. as the keynote speaker. The lecture will be held at 5:15 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, in Hartnett Hall, room 302, located on the ASU East campus.
Davis has an impressive tenure of service and will provide valuable real-world information to the advanced social work students who are scheduled to graduate and become practitioners in May.
He will speak to the students about his experiences within the military culture, including his tenure during war time, and the impact of post- traumatic stress disorder on service men and women and their families.
Davis has several medals and commendations and has fulfilled several tours of duty in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
He earned a Ph.D. from Capella University, a master’s degree from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree from Dillard University.
