The STAR students from the Dougherty County School System were named during a luncheon held by the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and the Albany Lions Club.

Ryan Thomas from Albany High, Tylexus Kiara Robinson from Monroe Comprehensive High and Andrew Masters from Westover Comprehensive High School were each recognized for having the top SAT Score at their school and being among the top 10 percent of students academically. 

Each student also picked their STAR Teacher -- the teacher who they credit with the biggest impact on their academic careers -- and brought them to the luncheon to be honored. 

Thomas picked Venkateshwar Nagulavancha as his teacher, Robinson picked Linda Brown and Masters picked Shay Bradshaw.
