Another Family Receives the Keys to Their Flint River Habitat Home
Wednesday, December 14th, 2016
Flint River Habitat for Humanity is celebrating Mrs. Barbara Cole becoming a homeowner! This Friday at 11 am Flint River Habitat will perform a home dedication for the home at 2523 Forsythe Street here in Albany. Mrs. Cole has completed 200 Sweat Equity hours on both her home and the homes of other qualified families. She also helped out in the Flint River Habitat ReStore and was a bright, smiling face that everyone enjoyed. Mrs. Cole purchased the Habitat home with a no-interest loan and her monthly mortgage payments will be used to build and rehab more Habitat homes so that other qualified families can become homeowners just like her. All are welcome as we present Mrs. Barbara Cole the keys to her home along with a Habitat for Humanity Bible.
Flint River Habitat builds and rehabs decent and affordable homes for those who qualify. The homes are sold at a low cost and with a no-interest loan. The mortgage payments go into a revolving account to help fund future builds and rehabs, so that we have the ability to help more families. We also rely on funds made in our ReStore. All of the money that is made in the ReStore, from donations, helps us build and rehab homes in the future. We can’t do it alone though. We depend on the support of individuals and businesses right here in our community. Without their help, we could not continue the amazing work we do. We currently have both a Homeownership Program, as well as a home Repair Program for Veterans. We are always looking for qualified applicants.
