The Public Relations Society of America South Georgia Chapter will host a luncheon and presentation at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at the Comfort Suites, 1332 St. Augustine Road, Valdosta. The cost to attend is $20 for PRSA members and $25 for non-members. RSVP [email protected]

Guest speaker is Kaitlynn Culpepper, community relations specialist for Tri-County Electric Cooperative, which serves more than 17,000 residential, commercial, and industrial consumers in rural North Florida.

A graduate of Valdosta State University, Culpepper will discuss her experience working with emergency communications during Hurricane Hermine.

“With any emergency situation there is a high level of anxiety and TCEC was able to decrease anxiety through the proper dissemination of information through various media outlets, social media channels, as well as our website,” Culpepper said. “Before a crisis occurs, it is important to have a positive working relationship with local media, so that reporters know who to contact to get accurate information.”

Culpepper's responsibilities include maintaining strong, professional relationships with businesses and residential customers and developing and implementing marketing, energy management, economic development, and communication programs to promote TCEC's mission.
