MCLB Albany Launches New Community Partnership Program

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Wednesday, October 26th, 2016

Earlier this year, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany was one of three Marine Corps installations selected to pilot the implementation of the Corps’ new Community Partnership Program.

On Thurs., Oct. 27, representatives from Dougherty, Lee and Worth County government will join MCLB Albany leadership and staff to finalize some of these agreements.

The CPP encourages Marine Corps installations to enter into agreements with local and state governments.  The Intergovernmental Support Agreement is one of the newest tools available to form mutually beneficial partnerships with the Marine Corps and was revised in 2015, allowing for greater flexibility to conduct business with local governments.

To maximize the benefit of this new legislation, several meetings have taken place to explore a wide range of potential partnerships in the areas of education, public works, environmental, police, fire, emergency services and utilities.
