The Board of Commissioners of Dougherty County, Georgia will make appointments to the following listed Boards. Air Conditioning, Heating, & Ventilation Board – Four (4) appointments. These appointments will fill a one‐year term ending December 31, 2017. The purpose of this Board is to review all matters pertaining to standards for use of air conditioning, heating and ventilation. The Board meets on an as‐needed basis.

Citizens Transportation Committee ‐ Two (2) appointments. These appointments will fill a three‐year term ending December 31, 2019. This Committee was established by a Joint Ordinance of the City and County. The ordinance provides for a nine member citizen board from the City of Albany, Lee County, and Dougherty County. The Committee meets quarterly at 8:00A.M. in the Central Square Complex (dates vary).

Dougherty County Health Board ‐ One (1) appointment. This appointment will fill a six‐year term ending December 31, 2022. This Board determines the health needs and resources of its jurisdiction, develops programs, activities and facilities responsive to those needs and enforces or causes all laws pertaining to health unless the responsibility for the enforcement of such laws is that of another agency. The Board meets at 8 am at the Health Department on the 2nd Monday of every other month. (February, April, June, August, October, and December).

Economic Development Commission ‐ One (1) appointment. This appointment will fill a two‐year term ending December 31, 2018. The purpose of this Board is to continue to lead in efforts to promote Albany and Dougherty County for economic development purposes and in recruiting new business and industry to the Albany and Dougherty County area. The Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Electrical Board ‐ Five (5) appointments. These appointments will fill a one‐year term ending December 31, 2017. The purpose of this Board is to consider all matters related to electrical installations, including alterations, repairs, and equipment. This Board meets on an as needed basis. One (1) appointment must be a Master Electrician, two (2) must be an Electrical Supplier, one (1) must be Professional Engineer and one (1) represents a citizen member. Fire Code Board of Appeals ‐ Four (4) appointments. These appointments will fill a three‐year term ending December 31, 2019. The purpose of this Board is to hear and decide appeals regarding complaints of violations of the Joint Fire Code. This Board meets on an as needed basis.

Gas Board ‐ Three (3) appointments. These appointments will fill a one‐year term ending December 31, 2017. The purpose of this Board is to consider all matters related to gas work, including alterations, repairs, and equipment. This Board meets on an as needed basis.

Golden Triangle RC & D Council ‐ Two (2) appointments. These appointments will fill a two‐year term ending December 31, 2018. The purpose of this Board is to assist local people in planning and carrying out activities that conserve natural resources, support economic development, enhance the environment and improve the standard of living for all citizens. This Council meets once a quarter in Miller County.

Historic Preservation Committee ‐ Four (4) appointments. These appointments will fill a two‐year term ending December 31, 2018. This Board meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM.

Library Board ‐ Two (2) appointments. These appointments will fill a three‐year term ending December 31, 2019. The purpose of this Board is to establish policies for library services and review complaints regarding the library. This Board meets the 3rd Monday of every month (except July, August, & December).

Planning Commission ‐ Three (3) appointments. These appointments will fill a three‐year term ending December 31, 2019. The purpose of this Board is to recommend actions on zoning and special approval cases. The Board meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm.

Plumbing Board ‐ Three (3) appointments. These appointments will fill a one‐year term ending December 31, 2017. The purpose of this Board is to consider all matters related to plumbing work, including alterations, repairs, and equipment. This Board meets on an as needed basis. Two (2) appointments must be Master Plumbers and one (1) represents a citizen member.

Southwest Georgia Community Action Council ‐ One (1) appointment. This appointment will fill a one year term ending December 31, 2017. The purpose of this Board is to provide social services funded through Community Services Block Grant, Head Start/Early Head Start, Department of Health & Human Services, and Georgia Environmental Finance Authority. This Board meets the 4th Tuesday of every other (odd) month at 7:30PM in Moultrie.

Southwest Georgia Housing Task Force ‐ One (1) appointment. This appointment will fill a one‐year term ending December 31, 2017. The purpose of this Board is to focus on education as a key to solving and preventing housing problems in the 14‐county region. This Board meets in Camilla, GA on the 2nd Tuesday from 10:00AM – 1:00PM.

Southwest Georgia Regional Commission ‐ Two (2) appointments. These appointments will fill a one‐year term ending December 31, 2017. This Board meets the last Thursday of every month in Camilla, GA at 7:00 p.m.

Tax Assessors Board ‐ One (1) appointment. This appointment will fill a three‐year term ending December 31, 2019. The purpose of this Board is to hear taxpayer appeals only for issues dealing with matters of taxability, uniformity of assessment, value and to homestead exemption. This Board meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Appointed person must be a Dougherty County resident and complete required training within 180 days of appointment. This appointment will be paid per month.

Voter Registration and Elections Board - One (1) appointment.  This appointment will fill a two-year term ending December 31, 2018.  The purpose of this Board is to handle all city, county, state and local elections; all voter registration for city and county; appoint poll workers.  This Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month.  This appointment will be paid every six months.
