Phoebe’s Network of Trust & ASU’s Project S.T.O.P. Partner for “Get A Life” Maze & Wellness Fair Sept. 28th

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Tuesday, September 27th, 2016

The “Get A Life!” Maze and Wellness Event will be held at Darton College on Wednesday, September 28.  This event is made possible through a partnership between Albany State University’s Project S.T.O.P. and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital’s Network of Trust School Health Program. This partnership aims to increase awareness and education in Dougherty and Terrell counties on topics including prevention of: tobacco, alcohol, HIV, HCV, and HPV.

The “Get A Life!” Maze is an interactive simulation of choices that we make in real life and the consequences, both positive and negative, that result from those choices. In addition to the “Get A Life!” Maze, the wellness fair will provide health screenings and confidential HIV testing provided by Albany Area Primary Health Care, as well as displays from local organizations, and healthy snack taste-testing. This event brings together representatives and volunteers from 25 local community organizations, plus more than 300 students, faculty, and staff are expected to attend the “Get A Life!” Maze.

The Taking Time for Teens: Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition and We are One ASU are also helping to sponsor this year’s event, which is funded by a grant from SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration).

The “Get A Life” Maze and Wellness Fair will be held at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, in the J Building All Purpose Rooms and is free and open to all Darton students, faculty and staff. For more information, please contact Amanda Paul at [email protected] or 229-312-4620.
