Unbreakable Bloodline at the Albany Museum of Art July 21st
Thursday, July 14th, 2016
For a deeper look into the hip-hop culture, join us from 7-10 PM on Thursday, July 21 for the two-time Georgia Music Award Winners, Unbreakable Bloodline. UBL is comprised of six distinctly different individuals hailing from Southern Georgia and they present a truly unique blend of music: hip-hop, rock with a hint of blues and a splash of island flare.
This event will also include local spoken word poets in the Haley Gallery at 7:30 PM, a freestyle rap battle with local rappers at 8 PM followed by the high energy performance of Unbreakable Bloodline. A food truck from Albany Fish Company will also be on site.
“Hip hop music, spoken word poetry and rap speak to a long line of cultural traditions that emerged in the mid to late 1970s. We are thrilled to bring Unbreakable Bloodline to the AMA to tie the exhibitions together with this music focused event,” said Paula Williams, Executive Director of the Albany Museum of Art. Motion Forward: Street Style is currently in the Haley Gallery and features the work of two New York street artists. In the museum’s East and Hodges Galleries, The Art and Sole of a Sneakerhead examines the world of a hard core sneaker collector. Predominantly showcasing skateboard shoes, the shoes are from the private collection of Marvin Laster, Executive Director of the Albany Boys and Girls Club and Herm Tsoi, owner of Albany’s Athlete’s Foot. “UBL’s performance compliments our current exhibitions so well and we are excited about making art and music accessible to the public.”
Tickets will be pre-sold at $10 and will be $15 at the door. Tickets can be bought at the Albany Museum of Art and for more information call (229) 439-8400 or visit albanymuseum.com/ubl-concert.
