Medical Education Expanding in Southwest Georgia

More than 20 years after the formation of Southwest Georgia Family Medicine Residency, now Phoebe Family Medicine Residency, in Albany, an option exists in Moultrie for budding physicians seeking residency slots.

The inaugural class of the Georgia South Family Medicine Residency program based at Colquitt Regional Medical Center began training on Friday through a rural track program in which the class of three doctors will be spending the better part of their first year at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital working in specialties the Albany hospital has higher volume in – such as pediatrics and neonatal — before spending the remainder of their three years in the Moultrie area.
