Dougherty County Officials get Background on Government Center

The Dougherty County Commission has given County Attorney Spencer Lee the go-ahead to look further into the ongoing confusion surrounding ownership of the downtown Government Center.
Costs associated with future improvements on the Government Center have put the county at odds with the Albany City Commission. Those two bodies decided at a joint meeting recently to forego an intergovernmental agreement on the issue while talks between the two bodies continued. If no agreement is reached by the end of August, the two commissions will seek non-binding mediation.
