Dougherty County Commission Cuts EDC Funding by $50,000

Saying that the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission did not concentrate its efforts on “all sides of town,” District III Dougherty County Commissioner Clinton Johnson proposed — and the commission agreed along racial lines — to cut $50,000 from the money it allocates for the EDC in the county’s FY 2017 budget.
The board also voted, again along racial lines, at its Monday meeting to cut $30,000 from its budget for a proposed consolidation study that the commission had agreed to pursue at its retreat earlier this year.
