DWS Students Excel in Language Contest

The Foreign Language Association of Georgia sponsors a Middle & High School Spoken Language Contest each year. 

The competition brings together students from across the state to demonstrate their ability to use the target language in oral communication.  Students speak one-on-one with an evaluator who assesses their language proficiency. 

Three categories of awards are presented:  Superior, Excellent, and Notable.

Winners included:

Latin I - Autumn Hart, superior; Latin III - Jasmin Lopez, notable; AP Latin - Tarah Young, notable.

Spanish I - Yvonne Ramos, excellent; Justi Neal, superior; Chandler Newman, excellent.

Spanish II - Sarah Chambless, excellent; Anna Johnson, superior; Garrett Smith, excellent

Spanish III - Morgan Dasher, superior; Zoe Hopson, superior; Alexandria Michas, superior.

Spanish IV - Mental Joshi, superior; Maggie Ricks, superior; Uday Sappati, superior

AP Spanish - Matt Williams, superior.

Mrs. Polly Stadnik chairs Deerfield-Windsor School’s World Language department. Spanish teachers include Jessica Marshall, Katie Sullivan, and Cindy Neal, and Katherine Norton teaches Latin.
