The Albany State University Department of Social Work in partnership with the GeorgiaDivision of Family and Children Services is offering financial support to students pursuing careers in social work through the Title IV-E Child Welfare Education Program. The program is part of the DFCS strategy to develop an educated and stable workforce.
To participate in the program, applicants must be social work majors who are enrolled and accepted into the Social Work program. DFCS employees who are currently ASU social work majors are encouraged to participate. After acceptance into the Albany State University Social Work Program, the applicant then applies online for the Title IV-E Program. The program pays for tuition, fees, books, and mileage for students selected through a competitive application and screening process.
“The Department of Social Work has officially approved nine undergraduate and five graduate students in the Title IV-E Program,” said Chair of the Albany State University Department of Social Work Marilyn Spearman, “This program is greatly needed for Southwest Georgia,”
In addition to Albany State University, four other Georgia institutions are participating in the Title IV-E Program. The participating schools are Georgia State University, Savannah State University, University of Georgia and Valdosta State University.
