Albany State University Commemorates the Late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Legacy

National orator and retired naval officer, Kenneth Miller, will deliver the keynote address at Albany State University’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation. The yearly event recognizes the life and legacy of the slain civil-rights leader. The lecture begins at 9:50 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, in the Student Center Ballroom located on campus.

Miller is known for his life-changing messages in the areas of personal growth, management and leadership. A native of Natchez, Miss., he is the chair of Leadership and Business Studies at Beulah Heights University in Atlanta and former senior pastor of Administering Grace Church and Spiritual Life Center in Albany, Ga.

Miller was commissioned in May 2001 and graduated from Naval Chaplain School in Newport, R.I., where he received the "Readiness for Ministry Award", which was awarded for the first time in Chaplain School history. He also served eight years as an enlisted member of the U.S. Air Force.  

Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Education from Beulah Heights University, a Master of Divinity in Church Administration and Leadership from Atlanta’s Interdenominational Theological Center (Morehouse), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services, with a specialization in Management of Non-profit Agencies from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn.

The MLK convocation is funded by the Title III program and sponsored by the ASU Center for Teaching, Learning & Scholarship.
