Session at Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany Focuses on Georgia Milestones Assessment
Friday, January 29th, 2016
Officials from Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany conducted a “Lunch and Learn” session for active-duty service members and their spouses at the base’s Town and Country Ballroom on Thursday to educate parents of children in grades 3-12 who will be taking the Georgia Milestones Assessment tests — which are still relatively new to the state’s parents, students and teachers — in April.
Anthony Eitel, director of accountability and assessment for the Georgia Department of Education, facilitated the event to give parents with base access the context of the test — which is now in its second year. The points included dynamics of the new tests versus the prior assessments, how students are assessed, what teachers are doing to prepare students for testing, ways parents can help prepare their children for the test and testing accommodations for children with special needs.
