Phoebe’s Information Technology Department has been recognized as one of the best hospital IT Departments by Healthcare IT News. The monthly newspaper released its 5th Annual Best Hospital IT Department award winners on Monday, naming Phoebe 2nd best among large hospitals in the U.S.

More than 165 hospital IT departments nationwide completed an online survey, which included categories like day-to-day work, workplace culture, and professional development and advancement.  After all surveys were submitted, 65 hospitals qualified as finalists, of which 11 qualified for the “large” category (76 to 199 IT employees).

Phoebe’s IT department consists of 85 clinical and non-clinical staff members, who just 36 days ago completed a system-wide implementation of a new electronic medical record system called MEDITECH.

Jesse Diaz, chief information officer, attributes the department’s success to the family atmosphere that prevails at Phoebe.  “I have the privilege of leading a department of talented and passionate individuals. Our recent conversion to MEDITECH was not without challenges, however, our team rose to the occasion making patient care our top priority in supporting staff across the health system.”
