ASU to Celebrate, Support and Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Albany State University will recognize successful women entrepreneurs for Women's Entrepreneurship Day, Thursday, Nov. 19. The ASU Center for Economic Education/ Small and Minority Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the Albany Business League will join the international celebration by hosting a Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Forum on campus at 6 p.m. in Peace Hall, Room 127.
 
In addition Mayor Dorothy Hubbard is proclaiming November 19, 2015 as Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.
 
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is a worldwide movement that supports female entrepreneurs on every continent, and bringing awareness and change to the 250 million girls living in poverty worldwide,”
 
“The goal is to empower women and their businesses, as well as, gather a think tank of women leaders, which will ultimately create an amplified merged message to expand businesses both locally and globally,” said Kathaleena Edward Monds, Ph.D., professor of information systems and co-director, for the Center for Economic Education/Small and Minority Entrepreneurship.
 
During the event, ASU will join 111 top universities and colleges in 144 countries and worldwide via live-stream and listen to the ideas of world-class speakers, and be a part of a larger discussion to empower women in business worldwide.
 
“Empowering women worldwide and investing in their futures helps to drive and promote economic vitality and security locally and globally,” said Wendy Diamond, entrepreneur, humanitarian, pet-lifestyle expert and animal advocate is the founder of Women's Entrepreneurship Day.  “Twenty-first century leadership skills, such as cooperation, communication, and sharing are more commonly associated with women. We want to celebrate the unwavering positives that women entrepreneurs bring to the global economy as well as inspire and support future generations of women entrepreneurs.”
 
This event is free and open to emerging and existing women entrepreneurs. The forum will feature seasoned entrepreneurs who are graduates from Albany State University and business experts who will provide insight on what it takes for women to get to the next level in their enterprises.
