Mark's Melon Patch, a Fall Tradition for the Whole Family
Monday, October 5th, 2015
Few things signify the arrival of fall in Southwest Georgia like a trip out to Mark’s Melon Patch, which has become a seasonal tradition for families that can peruse the hundreds of pumpkins, take an old fashioned hayride through the fields, and pick up some fresh farm treats from the roadside market.
Located on U.S. Highway 82 just outside Sasser, about nine miles northwest of Albany, Mark’s Melon Patch is owned by Mark Daniel, who has slowly been turning the small farmer’s market he established 30 years ago to sell the watermelons he was growing into a unique area attraction that provides healthy excitement for both adults and children.
