Darton Ranked Among Most Affordable Online Paralegal Degree Program

Darton State College has been ranked among the top 50 most affordable online paralegal degree programs by Online Paralegal Degree Center. The ranking was published on the organization's website in October.
Darton State College was ranked 20th.
This ranking was determined by examining 117 schools based on two- and four-year degree offerings in legal assistant and paralegal studies. All programs were delivered 100 percent online or in a distance learning format. The schools were ranked in order of affordability based on undergraduate tuition and fees taken from the National Center for Education Statistics' College Navigator database.
Since 1966, Darton State College has been a leader in providing quality educational opportunities and services to Southwest Georgia. Darton, a state college within the University System of Georgia, is focused on providing a wide diversity of constituents access to certificate, associate, and select baccalaureate programs of study. Located on a
180-acre campus in Albany, Darton has a strong tradition of academic excellence that prepares graduates to enter the workforce or transfer to another institution.
As technology advanced, Darton State College stayed in the forefront of offering online classes with the first online class being offered in 1997. With 1,784 online only students and 3,385 students taking online and traditional classes, Darton State College is offering opportunities for traditional and nontraditional students to continue their education. Students are able to participate in 31 transfer program options, four bachelor level programs, an Associate of Arts, and Associate of Science, three Career Programs, and 10 certificate programs fully online.

The online paralegal studies program at Darton State College prepares students for careers as paralegals and legal assistants. The program is designed to take two years, but may be completed in less time if students have already taken required courses or have earned a previous associate's degree. Typical courses required include Introduction to the Paralegal Profession, Litigation and Trial Practice, Real Estate Law, and Tort Law. Special topics in paralegal studies are often offered during the second year and students may choose courses that satisfy career goals or specific interests.
