SOWEGA COA & Phoebe Putney Present 100 Teddy Bears to the Albany Fire Department

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Thursday, September 10th, 2015

For the past 20 years, the “Teddy Bear Group”, comprised of about 20 of the SOWEGA Council on Aging’s RSVP volunteers, sews 100 bears per week to donate to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  The teddy bears are given to children who are admitted into the hospital. Funds for the supplies are provided by Phoebe Putney Volunteer Services.

On Friday, September 11, representatives from the Albany Fire Department will be presented with 100 of the hand-made teddy bears in hopes that they will provide comfort to children and families affected by fires.   The presentation will begin at 11:45am at the Kay H. Hind Senior Life Enrichment Center.
