Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital announced the most recent PRIDE and DAISY award winners.  Charlotte Shead, behavioral health tech, was awarded the PRIDE award and Lauren Mashburn, RN, was awarded the DAISY award. The goal of these awards is to recognize excellence in the workplace by both nurses and non-nursing employees.

Charlotte, who works in EC psychiatric services, received the PRIDE award for her compassion and kindness in caring for patients while also providing comfort to family members. Charlotte was nominated by two sisters whose mom had recently been admitted to behavioral health due to her Alzheimer’s disease. According to the sisters, Charlotte could have quickly taken care of the situation and left, but “instead she chose to bring her stool close to mama, hold her hand and be fully present with her to bring her comfort.”

The DAISY award winner, Lauren, was nominated for her dedication and strong work ethic, and always with a smile on her face. A patient of Lauren’s nominated her, stating that she has never seen such a young person care so truly for her patients – giving not 100 percent, but 1,000 percent. “You see it, you feel it; she shows her love for her job and her patient.”

Phoebe PRIDE stands for Person Responding In Dedicated Excellence and recognizes excellence in the workplace by non-nursing employees.  The DAISY Award, which is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Phoebe Putney Health System is proud to be a DAISY Award hospital partner.
