ECG Official: Survey Shows Albany Utility Rates Lower
Friday, September 25th, 2015
While the concern over rising utility rates has become a hot-button local issue going into the Nov. 3 municipal elections, an official with the Electric Cities of Georgia collaborative provided evidence Thursday to what Albany officials have been saying all along: Albany Utility Board electricity rates are lower than those of any other provider that serves customers in Albany and Dougherty County.
“The rates here … you guys have done an excellent job of keeping them down,” ECG representative Chau Nguyen said. “I’m sure you’ve had complaints from customers who say utility bills of other providers are lower, but they’re not making a fair comparison. Your bills include all utilities — garbage, sewer, water — but others are just electricity.
