City officials announced Friday a new temporary business application that will allow vendors attending Albany State University’s homecoming festivities a quick and convenient way to obtain an occupational tax certificate, city nomenclature for business license.

City Manager Sharon Subadan made the announcement late Friday afternoon, noting the $4 million impact ASU’s homecoming has on the region annually.

“The temporary business application is a one-page application that is available in the Treasury Division at 240 Pine Ave., Suite 150, and is available for your completion online at www.albany.ga.us,” Subadan said in an email to The Albany Herald. “The application includes an owner’s affidavit that must be completed by the business/property owner where the merchant will temporarily locate. In some cases, additional permits may be required; however, the process should not take longer than an hour to complete.”
