Mercedes-Benz Acquires Naming Rights to Falcons Stadium
Monday, August 24th, 2015
The company is set to sign the contract Friday, Sports Business Daily reported, citing sources close to negotiations. Premier Partnerships also did not respond to a request for comment.
According to Don Muret of Sports Business Daily, the luxury vehicle line will have its name attached to the Falcons’ venue when it opens in 2017.
The $1.5B stadium, designed by HOK, opens in ’17.
This marks Mercedes’ second NFL stadium – and second in the NFC South – for which it holds naming rights.
In addition to the place in new Orleans where the Saints play, it looks like Arthur Blank’s new building across the street from the Georgia Dome will bear the German auto manufacturer moniker. The Louisiana Superdome was renamed the Mercedes-Benz Superdome when the automaker agreed to a 10-year marketing deal in 2011.
It’s strategically timed, too, considering Mercedes moved its United States’ headquarters to Atlanta earlier this year and is doubling up with a new automotive facility in 2017, the same year the Falcons’ new stadium expects to open.
