Albany City Manager Sharon Subadan announced late Tuesday afternoon that Latoya Cutts has been hired as the city’s new downtown manager.

Subadan said in a press release, “Momentum is building and the stars seem to be aligning for the successful revitalization of downtown Albany. A new hotel, a new Waffle House, new property acquisition, new projects in the pipeline, new funding and now a new downtown manager. Ms. Latoya Cutts may be a new downtown manager, but she is not new to the city of Albany. And she is definitely not new to leadership and economic development.

“Ms. Cutts has close to 10 years of experience working in both local and state government. Her experience includes serving as the director of the city of Albany’s Department of Community and Economic Development from 2008-2013 and working for the state of Georgia as both a regional project manager and a business consultant for Small Business Development.”

Subadan said Cutts, a native of Americus who has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern State University and a master’s in Management from Troy State University, has experience in strategic planning, organizational development, program development, marketing and outreach, master plan implementation, collaborating with “community partners,” community development, housing development, small business development, budget development and management, grant fund management and compliance, and revolving loan fund development and management.

The city manager said all of those experiences would relate to Cutts’ position as downtown manager.
